Work-Life Balance

LCG believes that the value of people lies as much in their professional capabilities as in their personal and relational skills, and that both must be cultivated with dedication. Personal growth, through personal, relational and family life experiences, is therefore fundamental to becoming better professionals and developing the empathy that underpins the relationship with the client.
Creating a working environment that promotes a balance between professional and personal life is a priority for the firm and is continuously updated with tools, policies and guidelines that value the ability to organise one's time according to personal commitments (autonomy) while always safeguarding the seriousness and quality of work (professionalism), and which includes the ability to work remotely (Smart Working) to optimise time and professional outcomes.

SMART WORKING

LCG introduced the option of remote working in 2019. The following aspects are considered critical to the success of this innovation:
•    Trust in professionals and collaborators and the ability to responsibly manage priorities;
•    The availability of tools that promote fast and effective communication.

The advantages that LCG identified in the analysis that preceded the adoption of the policy, also identified through listening to colleagues, are primarily:
•    Better time management in relation to commuting times;
•    Better management of personal or professional commitments away from the office;
•    Better concentration for tasks to be carried out individually;
•    Reduced contribution to urban traffic congestion and the resulting pollution.

All collaborators are provided with a firm Laptop (encrypted to ensure data confidentiality and security policies, and configured to access all firm resources remotely), so that professional work can always be carried out on their own device; there is also a centralised instant messaging and video conferencing system in Microsoft Teams to minimise and standardise working tools in compliance with the right to disconnect.
The adoption in 2023 of a new internal management system has further increased the ability to access documentation and the digital files of cases, allowing professionals to optimise remote working.
Workstations in the office are all equipped with monitors and are not assigned but shared. When coming into the office, a workstation must therefore be booked in advance; at the end of the day it must be left free and tidy, with any personal materials — as well as one's own keyboard and mouse — stored in the dedicated spaces.

From September 2024, LCG has adopted the following guidelines:
•    Trainee lawyers may use up to 5 days of Smart Working per month;
•    For professionals (lawyers), the guideline provides for the option to manage an average of 50% of monthly working time in Smart Working. Freedom of organisation within the month is permitted, always in compliance with the needs of the profession, clients and colleagues;
•    Support staff may agree on the use of Smart Working for particular needs.

WORKING HOURS AND WORKLOADS LCG

promotes autonomy and the ability to work towards objectives for all its collaborators; it also considers the correct distribution of workloads to be fundamental and encourages teamwork. With this in mind, the possibility of working at hours compatible with personal and family needs is recognised, provided that deadlines, professional commitments and the needs of colleagues are respected.
A dedicated working group (WBT – Work Balance Team) produces a weekly report monitoring the workload of each professional so as to manage situations of excessive — or insufficient — workload and to ensure the right level of attention to each assignment.
